Reduce the environmental impact

Genève Aéroport has implemented an Environmental Management System (EMS) in order to reduce the impact of airport operations and air traffic. This tool allows to structure the environmental approach of the platform through concrete goals and measures in the following areas:

  • Noise
  • Energy and climate
  • Air quality
  • Water and soil
  • Waste
  • Natural environments

The measures rely on action plans that are reviewed annually. They directly influence the activities of Genève Aéroport but also those of its partners (ground handling companies, suppliers, etc.) Environmental indicators have been defined in order to monitor and verify the effectiveness of the measures as well as to plan the goals of the next years.

Genève Aéroport is currently under ISO 14001 certification to ensure compliance of its EMS with the international standard.

Since 2017, Genève Aéroport has been fully offsetting its own CO2 emissions. These efforts have been recognised by the ACA 3+ Certification issued by the Airports Council International, ACI. This recognition allows Genève Aéroport to join the club of the best airports in terms of carbon offsetting.

Airport Carbon Accreditation” recognises the companies committed to manage, reduce and neutralise their carbon footprint.
