From 1 September 2024, passengers will no longer be able to take liquids larger than 100 ml through the T1 Boosted security checkpoint in their baggage.
Some Genève Aéroport passengers are directed to the T1 Boosted security checkpoint on the Lausanne side of the terminal. They are not required to remove liquids or computers from their baggage thanks to the 3D scanners at this checkpoint. And since 2018, travellers have no longer had to comply with the 100 ml limit. This possibility is no longer on the agenda following a decision by the European Commission.
Until further notice, only liquids of 100 ml or less will be allowed through T1 Boosted security control. They will nevertheless be allowed to remain in baggage without having to be placed in a plastic bag.
No change at Genève Aéroport's other security checkpoints: only liquids of less than 100 ml are permitted. They must be taken out of baggage and placed in a closed transparent plastic bag of no more than one litre.
The Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) has explained to the press that ‘this precautionary measure does not respond to a new threat, but to a temporary technical problem’.
