South America, just one stop away from Geneva

Since 19 June 2026, Spanish airline Air Europa has been connecting Geneva and Madrid with two daily flights operating year-round. These services make it easier not only to travel to the Spanish capital, but also to connect onwards to South America.

Thanks to its location and extensive air network, Madrid is one of Europe’s leading hubs for travel to Latin America and the Caribbean. From its Madrid-Barajas hub, Air Europa enables passengers departing from Geneva to reach a wide range of destinations, including Buenos Aires, Lima and Cancún, with just one connection.

From mid-December 2026, two new destinations will further expand this offering: San Salvador, in El Salvador, and Barranquilla, on Colombia’s Caribbean coast.

Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Lima combines colonial heritage, creative neighbourhoods and world-renowned cuisine.

From the historic centre to Miraflores and Barranco, the Peruvian capital offers a journey rich in flavours, history and ocean views, before continuing on to Cusco, the Sacred Valley or Machu Picchu.

Mexico

Cancún

With its white-sand beaches and turquoise waters, Cancún is the gateway to the Riviera Maya. Relaxation, Mayan sites and excursions across the Yucatán make for a stay combining leisure, nature and culture.

Just a few kilometres from the city, the coastline stretches between tropical jungle, unspoilt beaches and small Caribbean villages, offering plenty of opportunities for excursions and discovery.

From mid-December 2026

San Salvador

Surrounded by volcanoes, San Salvador is an ideal starting point for discovering a destination that remains relatively off the beaten track. Markets, museums, colourful villages, archaeological sites and Pacific beaches offer a wonderful variety of experiences combining culture, nature and authenticity.

Barranquilla

On Colombia’s Caribbean coast, Barranquilla is known for its carnival, music and festive energy. It is also an excellent starting point for discovering Cartagena, with its city walls and colourful streets, as well as Santa Marta and Tayrona National Park (main photo), where tropical jungle meets unspoilt beaches.

With Air Europa’s arrival in Geneva, Madrid becomes an especially convenient gateway to Latin America. Whether you are looking for a city break, a cultural journey, a beach holiday or a multi-stop adventure, five very different destinations are now accessible from French-speaking Switzerland with just one connection.
