A national airport just steps away from the city

A human‑sized airport, connecting our region to over 140 destinations worldwide.

GVA Overview

Our missions

  • As Switzerland’s national airport, we help meet the country’s demand for air transport connections. Our objective is to sustainably satisfy the needs of the region.
  • We offer optimal conditions in terms of safety, efficiency, and comfort for our users.
  • We manage and operate airport infrastructure using high‑performance equipment and services.

Our legal framework

SSSS

We are an autonomous public institution defined by the Geneva International Airport Act and its implementing regulations. Our operations are governed by an operating regulation.

Owned by the State of Geneva, we receive no subsidies. We return half of our profit to the Canton. How do we finance our investments? Through bonds.

A performance agreement concluded with the Canton sets the milestones for our development. Issues such as environmental impact, land‑use planning, and mobility are considered.

Our activities are supervised by the Confederation, notably the Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA). At the end of 2018, it published the Geneva Airport sheet of the Sectoral Plan for Aeronautical Infrastructure (PSIA). This document is essential for planning our development over the next fifteen years.
