PPR – air traffic coordination at Genève Aéroport

Certain operations require prior permission (PPR). Find here the conditions, procedures, and contacts to organize your flight in full compliance.

Air traffic regulation (permanent)

To coordinate all air traffic at Genève Aéroport, scheduled flights, charters, business aviation, and general aviation, prior permission (PPR) is required for operations not regulated by Slot Coordination Switzerland.

Genève Aéroport provides two PPR booking systems, allowing you to check forecast capacity availability and plan your operation.

The following operations do not require prior permission:

Search and rescue flights
Medical flights
Police flights
Swiss military flights
Flights authorized by OFAC

Also exempt:

Flights diverted to Geneva for safety, weather, urgent medical, or technical reasons, subject to restrictions published by NOTAM.

Except in emergencies, these flights must still be reported to the airport authority – PPR office.

Ground handling is mandatory for all types of aircraft.

Commercial flights:
A handling agent is mandatory.

Non-commercial flights:
Self-handling is permitted only on the north side of the platform, provided the pilot holds:

A Genève Aéroport airport ID card (CIA), or
A crew member card (CMC) recognized by Genève Aéroport

A pilot license alone is not accepted (ref. AIP LSGG AD 2.20).

In case of self-handling, PPR can be booked by phone via the PPR office.
In all other cases, booking must be carried out by the handling agent.

Check available capacity (links at the bottom of the page)
Book a PPR slot according to the conditions below
Mandatory parking booking for helicopters
Include the PPR number in item 18 of the flight plan
Report without delay any change to departure/arrival time or flight cancellation

Commercial flights:

IFR: booking possible 5 days in advance
VFR: booking possible 1 day in advance

Non-commercial flights:

IFR: booking possible 5 days in advance
VFR: booking possible the same day

Booking method (all flights):

With handling agent: booking only via the handling agent
Without handling agent: booking only by phone via the Genève Aéroport Operations Center at +41 (0) 22 717 71 26

Commercial flights:

IFR and VFR: booking possible 5 days in advance

Non-commercial flights:

IFR and VFR: booking possible the same day
