Genève Aéroport has given a largely positive assessment of the operations carried out over the last five days. Following the G7 summit held in Evian from 15 to 17 June – for which Genève Aéroport served as the main gateway – it considers the three objectives set for this period to have been successfully achieved:
- To handle the arrivals, departures and transfers of the fourteen delegations that landed in Geneva for this international summit
- Maintaining and ensuring commercial flight operations, whilst guaranteeing a high level of security and coordination
- To provide passengers with the best possible travel conditions, despite a few delays
No notable incidents were reported on the tarmac, in the terminal or in the vicinity of the airport.
Genève Aéroport is pleased to have once again demonstrated its expertise in hosting high-level diplomatic delegations, a skill developed through the major summits organised in Geneva and the surrounding region.
The success of this major international event relies on the coordinated efforts of all these partners, united by their complementary areas of expertise.
“I would like to express my sincere thanks to our staff,” said Jean-François de Saussure, Managing Director of Genève Aéroport, “for their effective collaboration with the airport’s many partners, various bodies in the Canton of Geneva, the Swiss Confederation and France, in order to ensure that operations run smoothly.”
Work began in January 2026
From January 2026, an interdisciplinary task force worked on planning and managing activities related to this event. In particular, it anticipated various scenarios, coordinated the actions of internal and external stakeholders involved at the airport, and planned activities in detail. This preparatory work contributed to the overall success of the operations, whilst mobilising around a hundred people across all departments at Genève Aéroport and beyond.
Since Sunday 14 June, alongside the normal running of airport operations, an Operations Control Centre (OCC) has been activated to coordinate, manage and process all information in partnership with all stakeholders mobilised both on and off the airport site. The OCC brought together in one place the various experts and partners necessary for the success of the G7 operation.
The President of the Swiss Confederation, Mr Guy Parmelin, made a point of visiting the OOC on Tuesday morning to see the scale of the operation for himself and to thank the operations team for their commitment.
The OOC was disbanded a few hours after the last delegations had departed on the evening of Wednesday 17 June.
