The Geneva Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Swiss-Chinese Chamber of Commerce collaborated and organised a special flight operated by Cargolux. The Boeing 747 landed at Genève Aéroport on Monday 6 April 2020.
The 92-tonne load, consisting of masks, gloves, gowns and thermometers, was quickly delivered to recipients in order to relieve hospitals in French-speaking Switzerland and Ticino.
« We are pleased to welcome this cargo flight, which demonstrates the need, in such a crisis, for the ability to get products of great importance to hospitals through our airport », stated André Schneider, Director General of Genève Aéroport.
This operation is the first of a series of flights of this nature, which are due to take place in the near future.
