Genève Aéroport joins the Heritage Days on 1 and 2 September 2018 and opens its doors to the population by the organisation of guided tours. Within the theme of the event, the day called “Geneva Airport, beyond the borders” will allow the public to discover this essential element of the Geneva heritage and better understand its operation. More than 500 visitors are expected throughout the weekend.
Closely linked to the international, economic, cultural, social and diplomatic Geneva, the airport, which is among the oldest of the Old Continent, accompanies and supports the development of the region that it serves for nearly 100 years. Constantly evolving and making sustainability one of its priorities, it was able to adapt to technological developments in the aviation world and to the needs of the Canton and its population.
In the framework of these Heritage Days, guided tours are scheduled every hour, in small groups and upon prior registration. The public will have the opportunity to discover five emblematic places of the airport, including the logistics centre of baggage sorting, the traffic tour, the terminal and its new façade, as well as the construction site of the future East Wing. A bus will take visitors on the tarmac for an immersion in a real situation.
It should be noted that these visits will be supervised by Genève Aéroport employees, who will use this opportunity to show the many facets of their activity, the operation of the platform, its constraints, as well as its projects for the future. Service providers and companies responsible for the site will accompany visits of the new façade of the terminal and the future East Wing.
Entirely free, registration is open on www.journeesdupatrimoine.ch. Onsite, visitors must undergo security checks and present a valid identification document.
