Five Geneva companies, including Genève Aéroport, distinguished themselves for having saved more than one GWh within a year, equivalent to the annual consumption of 335 Geneva households. To reward this involvement in energy savings and energy efficiency, SIG, Services industriels de Genève, awarded them today the Ambition Négawatt Giga Trophy. These companies are DuPont de Nemours (Switzerland), Firmenich, Interoute Managed Services Swiss, the Starling Hotel and Genève Aéroport.
The Ambition Négawatt 2017 trophy is awarded to Privera management company for energy savings in the building of the World Trade Center 1.
“I congratulate these companies that have been working for a long time to reduce their energy consumption and CO2 emissions. By contributing the know-how of all, we can achieve the objectives of the Canton and the Swiss Confederation in the field of energy transition, i.e. the 2000 Watt society without nuclear energy and promote the use of domestic and renewable energy”, said Antonio Hodgers, State Councillor and Commissioner of the Department of Urban Planning, Housing and Energy (DALE), at the ceremony of presentation of the Ambition Négawatt Giga Trophies.
“Our energy strategy aims to put an end to the use of fossil fuels by 2025. Ambition Négawatt is an excellent lever for the development of our numerous energy efficiency projects”, explains André Schneider, CEO of Genève Aéroport.
Since its creation, seven years ago, Ambition Négawatt has contributed to energy savings of 43 GWh, equivalent to the annual consumption of electricity of 14,400 Geneva households. CO2 emissions in Geneva have fallen by 20,700 tonnes, equivalent to the annual emissions of 6,000 Geneva residents.
