More than 100'000 passengers used Geneva International Airport during the weekend of 4-5 March 2006, breaking its previous record of 96'88 passengers set during the weekend of 25-26 February 2006.
Some 57'756 passengers passed through the airport last Saturday and 41'702 on Sunday, making a total of 99'458 for charter and scheduled flights combined (as against 57'373 and 39'515 on 25 and 26 February respectively). The 100'000 barrier was crossed with the addition of general aviation passengers, who are particularly numerous at this time of year, with the automobile show and the end of the winter sports holidays.
Despite difficult weather conditions, the airport managed to cope with this extremely high traffic, including particularly the "avalanche" of passengers descending from the Swiss and French ski resorts. Once again, the AIG management would like to express its thanks to all those whose hard work ensured that everything went off successfully.
