Return of Air Canada’s long-haul flight departing from GVA

07.07.2020

Following the pandemic, intercontinental flights have been making a gradual return. It’s therefore excellent news that the airline Air Canada has come back to Geneva so quickly. Since 4 July, the Geneva-Montreal line has been operating again, departing three times a week (four times from August) in a B787, Air Canada’s state-of-the-art plane.

Air Canada, member of Star Alliance, has been operating from Genève Aéroport for the past 10 years. Reconnecting the two sides of the Atlantic in this post-pandemic period, its return nevertheless comes with fewer flights compared to pre-pandemic levels (daily).

Following in the footsteps of other airlines which have, over recent years, deployed the latest generation planes from Geneva, Air Canada now operates the B787 Dreamliner on this flight, a state-of-the-art aircraft in terms of its energy consumption and noise emission.

Canada is on the latest list of non-European countries that can enter Switzerland from 20 July. Swiss and European travellers should check the conditions of entry into Canada, as well as health restrictions, with the competent authorities.
