Genève Aéroport's air network is recovering and is once again approaching its pre-pandemic level of quality. For the 2021/22 winter season, more than 100 destinations will once again be served by direct flights by around 40 airlines. More significantly, long-haul flights are back in force, with a fully restored route network to North America (the four pre-crisis destinations are back: Montreal, New York / JFK, New York / Newark and Washington DC).
The big news for the upcoming winter season is the significant recovery of the intercontinental network, which coincides with the much anticipated opening of the East Wing on December 14, 2021. In addition to the North Atlantic routes (USA and Canada), which will gradually resume in November and December, service to the Middle East and Africa is already largely restored.
After the Mediterranean basin, which was already well served in the summer, Northern European countries are now receiving more direct flights and frequencies. Germany and Scandinavia are again being intensively served, as well as the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. In the United Kingdom, 18 different airports will be linked to Geneva this winter.
In Central and Eastern Europe, frequencies are increasing substantially to countries such as Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary. Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine and several Balkan destinations are operated several times a week. Moscow will have almost two daily flights.
For more exotic destinations during the winter months, the choice can be made between the Canary Islands, Madeira, the Red Sea (including Aqaba) or the Persian Gulf for example. Not to mention North Africa, with several seaside and cultural destinations in Morocco and Tunisia. The network to Mediterranean countries remains very strong (Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey), whether you travel for vacations or visits to family and friends.
In total, easyJet will serve more than 50 destinations from Geneva, thanks in particular to the arrival of new A321NEO aircrafts in their fleet. Swiss will operate flights to some 20 airports in Europe, North Africa and New York/JFK.
