On Tuesday 30 August 2022, Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) celebrated 55 years of flights between Saudi Arabia and the City of Calvin. To mark this anniversary, Saudia organised a small event with Genève Aéroport for passengers and staff.
Since the beginning of the year, Saudia has carried almost 50,000 passengers between Geneva and Saudi Arabia. Prior to the pandemic, in 2019, traffic amounted to approximately 73,000 passengers for the whole year from both Riyadh and Jeddah.
Saudia currently offers daily direct flights from Geneva (GVA) to King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) and to Riyadh King Khaled International Airport (RUH). Saudia serves Geneva Airport with Boeing 777s and Airbus A330s and A320s.
According to Hisham Bindkhail, Saudia Regional Manager Europe: "Celebrating our 55th anniversary in Geneva is a special occasion for us. We are very proud to connect Saudi Arabia with Switzerland and to offer our premium flight experience to travellers. We look forward to the next 55 years of flying in Geneva and welcoming our Swiss customers to discover Saudia on the ground and on board and enjoy a unique flying experience in all classes."
