Qatar Airways is proud to announce the launch of the first regular service on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner from Geneva. The new aircraft offers an exceptional level of comfort and performance to passengers of the Geneva – Doha daily flight, until now operated by an Airbus A320.
The first flight of the Dreamliner Qatar Airways from Doha landed at lunch time, July 1st. It was welcomed by the traditional greeting of water guns, under the eyes of the media and representatives of Qatar Airways and of Genève Aéroport.
Jonathan Harding, Senior Vice President of Qatar Airways Europe, said: “Qatar Airways is very happy to be the first airline to serve Geneva aboard the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, one of the most modern aircraft at this time. The commissioning of the Dreamliner multiplies almost twice the daily capacity of Qatar Airways departing from Geneva and reflects the attractiveness of the city and the region as a destination for leisure and business.”
Robert Deillon, CEO of Genève Aéroport, adds: “We are glad to see Qatar Airways developing, departing from Geneva, a quality service destined for the Gulf with a B787, which is a modern aircraft, more ecological and silent and perfectly suited for this service.”
The Dreamliner by Qatar Airways has a double configuration composed of 22 seats in Business Class and 232 seats in Economy Class. All seats are equipped with a TV screen, and Economy Class passengers benefit from a 10.6-inch screen, a range of entertainment with more than 3,000 options and the company's award-winning service.
Morena Bronzetti, Qatar Airways Country Manager Switzerland, underlines: “The Boeing 787 provides Swiss passengers unparalleled comfort, both in Economy and in Business Class. Low pressure in the cabin and the improved air quality contribute to the feeling of relaxation during landing. After Qatar Airways commissioned the first Dreamliner in Zurich in 2013, we are pleased to welcome today this aircraft to Geneva.”
In Business Class each seat offers aisle access. Passengers can sleep in horizontal position in their seats or use their flying time productively thanks to a broad working plan. They also have the possibility to stay connected during the flight with the Wi-Fi option, available in the entire aircraft.
With a cargo capacity of 80 tons per week, the new service of Qatar Airways will also benefit trade and industry.
In addition, Geneva is the second destination in Switzerland that Qatar Airways operates with a Dreamliner. Qatar Airways was the first airline to introduce the Dreamliner in the country with the Zurich – Doha line.
In addition to the award-winning on-board service, passengers who fly from Geneva to one of more than 150 leisure and business destinations worldwide benefit from fluid and effective transit at the international airport of Hamad, home airport and hub of Qatar Airways.
