Starting from the transition to winter season on 28 October 2018, Genève Aéroport offers some novelties in its air services. These should satisfy travellers looking for original getaways.
Although already established during summer, the long-haul link of Ethiopian Airlines (Star Alliance member) is a real novelty for the winter period, with three weekly flights to Addis Ababa, ideal connection hub to more than 50 destinations on the African continent, including, of course, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Madagascar, etc.
Discovering Brittany and Normandy is now possible directly from Geneva, with flights offered by easyJet three times a week to Rennes, Air France (HOP!) four times a week to Caen and once a week to Brest.
For business travellers, but also for tourists in a hurry, the centre of Milan is connected to Geneva since the month of September, with two daily Alitalia flights serving Milan-Linate airport.
For diving in the Red Sea, or simply for exotic holidays, the seaside resort of Hurghada Hurghada in Egypt is offered once per week, by both easyJet and SWISS.
The main operator in Geneva, easyJet complements its network with a new connection four times per week to Warsaw (Poland). Several links to major cities are also experiencing an increase in their frequencies: Madrid (SWISS), Helsinki (Finnair), Düsseldorf (Eurowings), etc.
To see magnificent northern lights, the SWISS company offers a weekly charter flight (sold by the tour operator Kontiki Voyage) to Kitillä in Finnish Lapland.
The Caspian Sea is now connected to Geneva, through the Baku (Azerbaijan) destination, served twice a week by the Azerbaijan Airlines company.
To view these offers and much more, the new travel inspiration tool “L’Évasion” was recently launched by Genève Aéroport: www.gva.ch/levasion.
Overall, some 52 airlines will link Geneva to 113 destinations during the 2018-19 winter season.
