New direct connection between Geneva and Salzburg

Starting January 2017, the low-cost airline Europe Eurowings launches direct flights between Geneva and Salzburg, Austria. This new regular connection will be operated three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

This connection launching is part of the opening of an operational base of Eurowings in Salzburg, that comprises, in addition to Geneva, direct flights to Brussels, Hamburg, Cologne, Paris and Zurich. After Vienna, this will be the second base of this company in Austria.

Eurowings Europe is a subsidiary of the German group Eurowings, specialised in the low-cost sector and mainly operates Airbus A320 aircraft with 174 seats.

The connection between Geneva and the city of Mozart will be effective starting 12 January 2017. Flights are also available for booking throughout summer 2017. Eurowings applies a low cost concept, with 3 fare classes: BASIC, SMART, BEST; the BEST class offers business-oriented services (priority access, additional hand baggage, etc.).

Salzburg is the 4th largest city of Austria, with approximately 150,000 inhabitants and is located near the border with Bavaria. The old town - world heritage of UNESCO - is particularly famous for being the place of birth of the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Its name comes from salt (“Salz”) and castle (“Burg”), which made its fortune throughout history. The classical music festival of Salzburg is one of the most prestigious in the world.
