Wizz Air starts Sofia flights from Geneva

Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, started today operating its low-fare flights from Geneva to Sofia. The first landing from Sofia was welcomed by Geneva Airport with a water salute and the 166 departing passengers will be the first to explore Bulgaria’s capital city directly from Geneva, as this is a new service for the airport.

Tourism and economic exchanges between the two regions are expected to grow in the coming years thanks to this new direct connection, also welcomed by the Bulgarian community in Switzerland and neighbouring France.

Wizz Air now offers 3 routes from Geneva (Bucharest and Cluj Napoca in Romania, Sofia in Bulgaria) and soon Warsaw in Poland. The convenient direct low cost services give Geneva consumers the opportunity to explore the big cities in Central and Eastern Europe.

Daniel de Carvalho, Wizz Air spokesman, said, "It is a great pleasure to congratulate the first passengers flying to Sofia from Geneva today. With departures on Mondays and Fridays our new service is ideal for short weekend breaks."

Wizz Air currently operates a fleet of 63 Airbus A320 aircraft and offers over 380 routes connecting 112 destinations across 38 countries, thanks to a team of approximately 2'200 aviation professionals delivering superior service and very low ticket prices.
