Wizz Air, the largest low-cost, low-fare airline in Central and Eastern Europe, has announced the launch of a new route between Geneva and Bucharest.
This new service will start on the 19th of May 2013 and operate initially twice weekly. Flights will take place on Thursday and Sunday, with the following timetable:
- Geneva > Bucharest: flight W63088, departure at 14:05, arrival at 17:35 (Thursday and Sunday)
- Bucharest > Geneva: flight W63087, departure at 11:55, arrival at 13:30 (Thursday and Sunday)
Wizz Air’s new route will soon go on sale on wizzair.com, with a starting fare of CHF 38.99 (one-way price including taxes).
There is a strong market demand between Geneva and Bucharest, with a good potential for both the business and leisure segments. In passenger numbers, this route is today the largest unserved market from Geneva. Switzerland and Romania have strong commercial relations, for example in the pharmaceutical, chemical and machinery industries. This route will also give Romanian diplomats a better access to the international organisations and allow Romanian tourists to visit Geneva or the ski resorts in Switzerland and France.
Wizz Air is the largest low-fare, low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe and operates a fleet of 39 Airbus A320 aircraft from 16 bases with over 250 routes connecting 81 destinations across 29 countries. The head office of the Wizz Air Group and part of the management team are located in Geneva.
