Just weeks before the start of the charter season, Genève Aéroport is named Best Airport by ski and snowboard professionals at the « World Snow Awards 2012 ».
The gateway to the French and Swiss Alps, Genève Aéroport was recently named Best Airport by a panel of experts specializing in ski and snowboarding activities.
The award is a tribute to the know-how reflected in the smooth management by the platform’s managers and all their partners of the peaks in passenger numbers experienced throughout the entire period running from mid-December to mid-April.
The thousands of skiers, many of them from the United Kingdom, who visit the region’s slopes constitute a demanding clientele that does not hesitate to compare the resorts they stay in, the airlines they fly with and the airports they travel through.
At the initiative of «Ski & Snowboard», a leading snow sports magazine in England, various prizes were awarded at the «Ski and Snowboard Show» held at the beginning of the month at Earls Court, London, to mark the magazine’s 25th anniversary.
The roughly 30,000 visitors to an exhibition of over 200 exhibitors swelled the ranks of a panel made up of the best-known experts in British skiing and snowboarding, including renowned snow sports journalists.
Based on the experience of various platforms, the panel designated Geneva as the «Best Airport» for ski destinations. SWISS, for its part, was awarded the prize for Best Airline.
Nick Miller, editor of Ski & Snowboard, said: “The ski and snowboard world is one of the travel industry’s most vibrant and innovative sectors. The World Snow Awards will help to highlight those that are miles ahead and show the way for the rest of us.”
Genève Aéroport is proud to share the honour thus bestowed with all its partners on the platform and wishes all those who will transit through its installations in the coming winter “smooth skiing”.
