On Tuesday 17 December 2013, Belavia inaugurated a new scheduled route between Geneva and Minsk, the capital of Belarus.
As of that date, flights are operated 3 times a week (Tuesday, Friday and Sunday), using Embraer 175, Canadair CRJ-200 and Boeing 737 aircraft.
There was a small official ceremony at the departure gate in the presence of the Ambassador of Belarus to the United Nations, Mr. Mikhail KHVOSTOV, the deputy General Manager of Belavia, Mr. Igor TCHERGINETS, and the CEO of Genève Aéroport, Mr. Robert DEILLON. Other representatives of the business and diplomatic worlds, and of both the local and Belorussian press, were present at the event.
In his speech, Mr. DEILLON stressed the interest of the new route for travel by the businesses concerned and by government officials. The route will also help to bring more tourists from Belarus to the Geneva region, especially for winter sports, as the first skiers on board the plane confirmed.
