From Thursday 28 June 2007, Qatar Airways will be making four regular flights a week to Geneva International Airport from Doha, the capital of Qatar. The flight from Doha will continue on to New York/Newark, for which Qatar Airways also has traffic rights.
The flights will be operated using Airbus A330-200s, in a three-class configuration with a total capacity of 238 seats.
From its Doha hub, Qatar Airways serves a large number of destinations in the Middle East, and also throughout Asia. The airline is in the throes of major development, and will double its fleet in the next ten years to 110 aircraft. It has ordered a number of A380s, 60 A350s - the future long-haul Airbus, and also several Boeing 777s. Qatar Airways is one of only four airlines in the world to have been given a "Five Star ranking" for its service, awarded by Skytrax, an independent specialist air transport agency.
