The recently concluded Biden-Poutin summit in Geneva was an important event for Switzerland, for Geneva and for International Geneva. Genève Aéroport, chosen as the gateway for the presidents and their delegations, is happy and proud to have actively participated in the success of this encounter.

For nearly three weeks, a special unit bringing together several services from Genève Aéroport and the International Police on a daily basis has been in contact with all the parties concerned and has worked with great care to make this mission a success in terms of operations, logistics, security and protocol. Over the past two days, several hundred people within Genève Aéroport, Skyguide, the Geneva Cantonal Police and the Swiss Army have been working together to ensure that operations ran smoothly.

For the past ten days, the Geneva apron has witnessed 58 movements of Russian and American aircraft, including President Biden's Boeing 747 « Air Force One » and President Putin's Illiouchine II-96-300. In addition to this activity, there were several flights for the Confederation and the flights of eleven military helicopters in operation.

With the exception of a fifteen-minute traffic interruption before the arrival and departure of the aircraft of the two presidents, the Secretary of State and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, where additional security measures were in force. Commercial traffic proceeded normally, without inconvenience to the passengers.

On the front line to welcome the very large American and Russian delegations and the preparatory teams, the Protocol service has, through its expertise and commitment, confirmed the quality of reception of Genève Aéroport in such circumstances.
