Every two years, Genève Aéroport is obliged to carry out a crisis exercise based on a major and realistic event. This year, the exercise will take place on the night of 24 to 25 November on the airport platform. The organised accident will be visible from 18 November in the vicinity of the Traz road and the customs road.
During the night of 24 to 25 November, Genève Aéroport teams, together with various external entities and bodies, will be involved in a general exercise based on a realistic major event, called "Collidere". The Federal Office for Civil Aviation (FOCA) requires airports to carry out this type of exercise at least once every two years.
For each of these exercises, the FOCA sets objectives in order to train the coordination between different internal and/or external players in the event of a major incident. For its part, Genève Aéroport, in addition to the exercises requested by the FOCA, regularly tests its emergency plan in order to ensure the best possible response in a real case.
As of 18 November, and in accordance with the scenario envisaged, it will be necessary to put in place several elements so that it will be possible to see, within the airport perimeter along the Traz road and the customs road, two "colliding" aircraft.
In order to avoid congestion around the platform on the evening of the exercise, it is important to avoid as much as possible the areas of the Traz road, the freight road and the customs road, either by car or on foot.
Genève Aéroport pays particular attention to its residents, which is why the sirens of the various emergency services will not be sounded excessively, nor will there be any aircraft engine noise during the exercise.
