Appointment of two new officers


Mr Giovanni Russo was appointed Chief Operating Officer and Mr Philippe Moraga was appointed Director of Infrastructures. They will take up their duties on 1 November and 1 September, respectively.

Mr Giovanni Russo was appointed Chief Operating Officer. He will arrive at the airport on 1 November and will officially take office on 1 December 2017. He will succeed Mr Xavier Wohlschlag, who wished to assert his right to retire.

Mr Philippe Moraga was appointed Director of Infrastructures. He will take his office on 1 September 2017. It will occupy the vacancy left by the departure of Mr Nicolas Gaspoz, who gave his career a new direction late last year.

Currently Head Flight Operation at the Zurich airport, Mr Russo has an experience of more than 20 years in the aerospace industry, of which two-thirds in air traffic control and eight years at the Zurich airport. At the end of his basic studies in mathematics and computer science, with excellent skills in management and administration, he attended an air traffic controller training. A dual civil and military culture gives him a great experience in the management of exceptional situations. With German as mother tongue, he has an excellent command of French and English. Mr. Russo is 46 years old and father of four.

Head of Constructions for the State of Geneva since 2012, Mr Philippe Moraga has implemented the Canton’s investment policies through the development and construction of public buildings, in particular prisons, hospitals, universities and schools. He has previously worked at Losinger Construction SA (1998-2011), where he was responsible for structural works and projects as general contractor. Mr Moraga studied at the School of Engineering of Geneva, civil engineering section (diploma of applied sciences/specialised technical educator, HES/ETS). He is 42 years old and father of three.
