Military exercise at Geneva Airport

On September 23, 2014 at 14:00, the Swiss Air Force will conduct an exercise at Geneva international airport.

Two F/A-18s will escort a propeller aircraft, a PC-7, until it is flying over the runway. The propeller aircraft will do a “touch and go” before taking off again, with the two fighters. This type of exercise is an opportunity to train for the specific procedure for escorting an aircraft at an international airport. It’s one of the measures that the Air Force may apply as part of their daily air police mission.

These exercises take place regularly at the international airports of Geneva and Zürich so that everybody – military pilots, air traffic controllers and ground security – are familiar with the procedure to be put in place.
