New absolute record for passenger traffic in 2008

After breaking through the ceiling of eleven million passengers for the first time in its history, in early December, Geneva International Airport quite naturally recorded a new absolute record number of visits in 2008, with nearly 11,530,000 passengers, an increase of 5.7% compared with 2007 and a sizeable figure given the current economic climate. 2009 got off to a good start, because for the weekend of 3 and 4 January 2009, GVA welcomed more than 110,000 passengers - the second highest peak in its history.

The total number of movements (take offs and landings) was 190,000: an increase of 1.5%, which means that commercial flights were particularly well filled.
