Although air transport is responsible for only some 3% of global carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, the actors in the sector have made a commitment to work to cut those emissions and reduce their effects.
In collaboration with the myclimate Climate Protection Partnership, Geneva International Airport is therefore offering its passengers as of now a way to offset the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions produced by their flights. The tool enables a calculation to be made of the quantity of CO2 emitted and voluntary payment of a financial contribution to help Swiss or international projects.
myclimate, a Swiss non-profit foundation established in 2002, supports projects that lead to a direct reduction of greenhouse gases in Switzerland and abroad. All such projects must meet strict standards and contribute to sustainable development; in other words, they must be financially, ecologically and socially compatible.
