Press release from Geneva International Airport :
For the second year running, Geneva International Airport has posted growth of more than 6% in passenger traffic despite the fact that the number of commercial movements was down.
With 8 593 225 passengers passing through the airport in 2004, Geneva International AirportA set a new record in terms of absolute passenger numbers, representing a rise of 6.2%, as compared with the previous high of 8 088 509 in 2003.
It will be noted that this result, well in line with the European average, was achieved in spite of a decline of 2.1% in the number of commercial aircraft movements (landings and take-offs), also down for the second year in a row. This is an encouraging sign not only for the environment but also for the airlines, as it shows that they are filling more seats on their aircraft.
These figures prove that the diversification policy being followed by Geneva International Airport is paying off to the benefit of the whole region, including French-speaking Switzerland and neighbouring France.
