Creation of a new boarding satellite

13.11.2007

In January of this year, Geneva International Airport presented a Master Plan for the period 2007-2015 that included in particular, in the initial phase, for the construction of the T1+ terminal and a new layout for the transit area. The Master Plan was based on traffic projections made in 2003.

However, a greater than predicted increase in passenger numbers, and also the application of the Schengen Agreements at the end of 2008, require that we open some new departure lounges.

The GVA Management Board has therefore approved the construction of a "satellite 10" with variable-size lounges that will be used specifically for boarding by bus. The satellite, located on the tarmac at the corner of the old terminal, will be linked to the main terminal by a tunnel.

The works, which started on 12 November 2007, require an investment of 23 million francs, and will be completed at the end of 2008.
