Inauguration of the first flight to Moldova
At the command of Embraer 190, which made this first rotation, was the Director General of the company itself, the pilot-in-command Iulian SCORPAN. With him, a delegation of Air Moldova management and journalists arrived in Geneva on this flight.
A small inaugural ceremony was held at the boarding gate, in the presence of representatives of the Permanent Mission of Moldova with international organisations. The traditional group photo and the cutting of the cake marked this event.
Air Moldova has planned to operate this Geneva-Chisinau line with two flights per week (Monday and Friday) in Embraer or Airbus. The flights leave Geneva at 3.40 pm to arrive at 7.10 pm local time in Moldova. On the way back, the plane takes off from Chisinau at 1.00 pm.
The airline serves about 30 destinations, is a member of IATA and has collaboration agreements with many other carriers. This air connection is expected to attract diplomatic and congress traffic and bring winter sports tourists to the area.
The Republic of Moldova is a country in Eastern Europe, with a population of about 3.6 million. The country has an interesting historical heritage, with monasteries, churches and ancient citadels of the Middle Ages and is trying to develop its tourism.
