Baggage carts: coin deposit system
To make it easier to find a baggage cart when needed, they are being fitted with a coin deposit system that requires the insertion of a 2 Swiss francs or 2 Euros coin. A total of 83 stations are located around the airport.
The 1'700 Airport baggage carts can be used inside the terminal, the car parks or the Swiss Railways Geneva Airport station. They can also be taken on escalators.
Left luggage
Baggage lockers are at the level Arrival and in the CFF train station. A deposit counter for luggage is situated in the train station, next to CFF ticket offices.
Food, animals or souvenirs
If you have any food, animals or souvenirs, please take note of the regulations summarised here when you enter Switzerland. By following these rules, you will be helping to guard against animal diseases, to promote animal welfare and to protect endangered species of fauna and flora.
The essentials in brief:
- It is forbidden to bring in any food of animal origin from countries outside the EU.
- If you travel with a dog or cat, you need a microchip, a pet ID card, a rabies vaccination – and possibly also a blood test and a permit.
- It is forbidden to bring in any souvenirs of endangered species of fauna and flora (ivory, furs, reptile leather etc.)

Counterfeited and pirated goods
Whoever buys counterfeited or pirated goods is supporting criminal activities and possibly endangering not only themselves but other people too.
Stricter laws beginning July 1, 2008 affect you too!
The large global increase in counterfeiting and piracy and the greater numbers of products involved which endanger health and security have made legislative reform a necessity. As of July 1, 2008, importing design and trademark counterfeits to Switzerland for commercial as well as private purposes is illegal.
At border crossings, customs has the right to seize all counterfeited goods, even those imported in small amounts exclusively for private use.
